our ethos
The Hidden Sanctuary was born from a desire to create more than a treatment room. A space where people could feel safe enough to soften. A place where there was no pressure to perform, no need to hold everything together, and no expectation beyond simply arriving as you are. Somewhere to pause, to breathe, and to be held in the present moment.
We have created treatments that are not formulaic, but felt. Treatments that invite the nervous system to settle, the body to realign, and the person as a whole to return to a more balanced healing state. This is the essence of The Hidden Sanctuary, not simply treatment, but space to let go, restore and come back to yourself.
Katie
Founder & Master Practitioner
Katie’s vision for The Hidden Sanctuary has been shaped by her own journey through healing, study and deep personal inquiry. After first training in the UK, she travelled to Indonesia, where she immersed herself in the healing traditions of local communities and experienced a way of working that was both deeply intuitive and profoundly rooted in presence. The experience left a lasting imprint on her understanding of what healing can truly be.
Her path then led her into the study of Japanese Integrated Medicine, where she deepened both the technical and intuitive aspects of her work. It was here that Katie refined the integrated approach she is known for today, weaving together acupuncture, structural bodywork and therapeutic massage into treatments that feel both precise and deeply restorative.
Her work is also informed by a rich background in reflexology, deep tissue sports massage, Thai massage, meditation techniques and Reiki. Each session draws from this breadth of knowledge, but what defines Katie’s practice most is her presence: her ability to listen deeply, read what the body is asking for, and respond with a treatment that feels skilful, attuned and profoundly nurturing.
The Hidden Sanctuary was born from a desire to create a space where people could feel safe enough to soften, let go, and simply be.
Ellen
Advanced Practitioner
Ellen’s work is shaped by a deep understanding of the body and a genuine passion for helping people feel better in it. With an early background in gymnastics and experience working alongside physiotherapists, she developed a strong foundation in movement, rehabilitation and recovery before training as both a complementary therapist and personal trainer.
She began her career in luxury spas in the New Forest before expanding internationally through Courchevel, exclusive ski chalets, European wellness retreats and superyachts. These fast-paced, high-end settings refined the calm, intuitive and highly tailored way she works today.
Returning to the UK, Ellen moved into hospice care, where she reconnected with the essence of her practice: offering comfort, presence and healing through touch.
From aromatherapy and Swedish massage to sports massage, dry needling, cupping, reflexology and facial therapies, Ellen creates treatments that are both versatile and deeply considered. Whether you need to unwind, recover or reset, her work is designed to leave you feeling restored, supported and more at ease in your body.
Every treatment is shaped to support deep restoration, inviting the body, mind and nervous system back into balance with care, presence and intention.
